Introducing our Advanced Wound Care Service - We are the only general practice in Australia currently providing this service for our patients

Health professionals and patients now have access to a new "Advanced Wound Care Service" operating in the Canton Mall Medical Suite building which is part of the Toukley Medical Complex.

Wendy White, Advanced Practitioner (Wound Management)

Uses Low Frequency Ultrasound Assisted Wound Therapy (LFUAWT) to provide a method of wound debridement and wound therapy.  The therapy removes dead tissue and kills and removes bacteria which in turn may improve blood flow to the area and aid the healing process.

Indications for the therapy include non-healing chronic wounds greater than 6 weeks, sloughy wound beds, unhealthy tissue of recurrent wound infection.  Patients can be referred to the service by their GP, Surgeon, Community Nurse, Nurse Practitioner or self-referral.  For further information and to make an appointment or discuss your suitability for the therapy please call the surgery or 4352 8651 and leave a message and we will get back to you ASAP.

 Introducing Our: Pelvic Floor Clinic - "The Wave Chair"

Toukley Family Practice has embraced the exciting ExMI™ Pelvic Floor Therapy System, a non-surgical therapy for the treatment of stress, urge and mixed incontinence, prolapse and pelvic pain in women, incontinence and erectile dysfunction in men.

For patients whose incontinence is caused by a weakening of their pelvic floor muscles, The Wave Chair can offer unique therapeutic
benefits.

Unlike other therapy options,the Wave Chair exercises all of the muscles in the pelvic floor to help rebuild strength and endurance and restore bladder control.

This is accomplished while you sit fully clothed in the comfortable  Wave Chair.

Elaine Harvey, B Hlth Sc (Rehab Counselling) M Hlth Sc (Sexual
Health) USyd, RCAA; has extensive qualifications and experience in sexual health issues; rehabilitation; physical and psychological disability. Her counselling practice, Positive Sexology, offers a range of possible options to support men and women (of all ages) who experience chronic illness, congenital and/or acquired disability, and their partners, to learn to talk about sexuality and sexual health concerns that they may experience, in a private and confidential environment that is disability accessible.

A medical referral is not required.  Ms Harvey’s clinic is open on Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays between the hours of 9am and
4pm.
